EAA Foundation Participates in First High-Level Strategic Dialogue Between UNHCR and the State of Qatar

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation proudly participated in the inaugural High-Level Strategic Dialogue between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the State of Qatar, which was held in Geneva on 14 May 2025. The event saw senior officials from Qatar’s humanitarian sector and UNHCR leadership come together to create a shared roadmap for more closely coordinated and impactful global engagement on behalf of displaced populations.

The event comes against the backdrop of a powerful collaboration between EAA Foundation and UNHCR which was first initiated with the establishment of EAA Foundation in 2012. Since then, the partnership has enabled more than 1.6 million out-of-school children in 15 countries to access education.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Kubaisi, Acting CEO of EAA Foundation, delivered keynote remarks during the “Partnership Focus” session. He emphasised over 10 years of collaboration between EAA Foundation and UNHCR.
Key Highlights from EAA Foundation’s Contribution:
Mr. Al-Kubaisi urged the importance of scaling innovative, low-cost models to reach at-risk learners in low-resource environments.
He underscored the need to more fluidly connect educational paths to vocational training and employment opportunities, ensuring these affected populations find the opportunity to transition toward their own meaningful and sustainable futures.
EAA advocated for the necessity of mechanisms to recognize displaced or affected learners and their credentials, helping them more readily integrate into local systems and economies.
Mr. Al-Kubaisi commended partners including Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Fund For Development, Qatar Charity, and Qatar Red Crescent Society on their support and alignment with key strategic goals.

Through this event, EAA Foundation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring that education in crisis is not only protected, but empowered and leveraged to help unlock greater possibilities. It underscored the impact of collective action to drive meaningful collaborations and protect the right to education for children and youth in need.
